Over at Southern Maryland Online, user Ol-man asked the question:

What are you guy’s thoughts on cremation vs. a traditional funeral/burial ?

There are seven pages of responses.

There are a number of interesting responses (almost all of them are unequivocably pro-cremation) but the most telling comes back from Ol-man himself after hearing the thoughts of others on the board.  He writes:

I like the way you guys think! the economics and the environmental aspects are enough to say “well done please” besides you are crammed up around people all of your life, why would you want to be laid in the ground next to a bunch of people! spread those ashes and be free!

Others talk about organ donation before cremation, burial at sea, cremation with sea scattering, etc.

No matter the specifics of the chosen means of disposition, all the users have definite feelings about traditional burial:  they’re against it.

Of course, this is just Southern Maryland.  Maybe the attitudes in your community are different.

Then again, what if they’re not?
